SUMMARY:Lime Kiln Theater\, Lesington\, VA\, Robert Earl Keen
DESCRIPTION:No two creative lives unfold the same way\, and for Robert Earl Keen\, the story was never going to end with a quiet retreat. After decades on the road\, with 21 albums\, countless shows\, songs sung by legends like George Strait and The Highwaymen\, and honors ranging from the BMI Troubadour Award to the Texas A&M Distinguished Alumni Award\, he might have had every reason to slow down. But Keen has always seen the open road as a beginning\, never an end. This year alone\, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut\, joined Tyler Childers for a sold-out performance at the Hollywood Bowl\, and helped his longtime friends Turnpike Troubadours bring the house down at Red Rocks Amphitheater. \n\n\n\nLime Kiln Theater is a non-profit organization that enriches the community’s culture by producing and presenting the arts in our unique historic spaces. Attending a show at Lime Kiln is a unique and immersive experience. The natural stone walls\, trees\, and stars overhead blend perfectly with the folk\, roots\, and bluegrass tunes that cast a spell and get toes tapping in our audience every season. Our Bowl venue holds 675 guests on our wooden benches and grassy spaces\, giving you the option to bring your own chairs and blanket and get cozy. Each season we host area food trucks and open our doors over an hour before the show begins\, giving you time to catch up with friends over delicious local fare. We also partner with local breweries and wineries to provide a wide assortment of beer\, wine\, and cider. More than just a concert\, attending a show at Lime Kiln Theater is a one-of-a-kind experience\, and one we hope you enjoy over and over again.

SUMMARY:Alderson gazebo\, Alderson to Paris: the Life of Ada "Bricktop" Smith
DESCRIPTION:The performance is entitled “Alderson to Paris: the Life of Ada ‘Bricktop’ Smith\,” featuring Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer\, Bricktop interpreter; Cathey Sawyer\, script and vocals; Birch Graves\, bandleader and saxophone; John Maddy\, keys; Evan Olds\, bass; and Tim Pyne\, drums. \n\n\n\nAda Beatrice Queen Victoria Louise Virginia “Bricktop” Smith (1894–1984) was an American dancer\, jazz singer\, vaudeville performer\, and one of the most influential nightclub owners of the Jazz Age. Born in Alderson\, West Virginia\, she grew up in Chicago after her father’s death. Her trademark red hair and freckles earned her the nickname “Bricktop.” By age 16\, she was performing on the TOBA and Pantages vaudeville circuits\, eventually moving to Harlem\, where she helped launch the careers of musicians including Duke Ellington. In 1924\, Bricktop moved to Paris\, becoming a central figure in Montmartre’s nightlife. She performed at and later ran Le Grand Duc\, then opened her legendary club Chez Bricktop\, attracting cultural icons such as Cole Porter\, F. Scott Fitzgerald\, Langston Hughes\, Josephine Baker\, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Known for her cigars\, sharp wit\, and warmth\, she became the “doyenne of café society.”

SUMMARY:Historic Masonic Theatre\, A Neil Diamond Tribute
DESCRIPTION:Experience the feel of Neil as Allynn unveils the story of Diamond’s life through Neil’s own songs from the ‘60s through today\, while weaving through his own comedic career change from an international top 10 Elvis\, to Neil Diamond\, all for the love of a woman. Allynn began his career in stand-up comedy at the age of 14\, opening for such greats as Chris Rock\, Tim Allen\, and Robin Williams. At 21\, he discovered his musical talents while performing “All Shook Up” at a karaoke night. The girls went wild\, and Allynn was hooked. For several years\, he continued to perform as an Elvis tribute artist and was voted a top 10 Elvis by Graceland in 2004. Later\, trying to impress a girl who was a huge Neil Diamond fan\, he called her on the phone and\, in his best Neil voice\, sang “Hello Again” from the Jazz Singer. It became their song\, she became his wife\, and he became The Diamond Image. Come see the story unfold live\, along with the story of Neil Diamond’s struggles and triumphs\, enjoying hits like “Sweet Caroline\,” “Song Sung Blue\,” “Hello Again\,” “Brother Love\,” “America\,” and many more. \n\n\n\nThe mission of the Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation is to serve the greater Alleghany Highlands community through a variety of educational\, entertainment\, business\, and social programs\, and to partner with organizations in need of a facility to host their programs. By doing so\, the Masonic Theatre and Amphitheater will be used as first-class venues for performances and as a multi-use space for community activities.  As a result\, the programs and activities in the Theatre will enhance the area’s tourism\, economic development\, and business growth\, while attracting more visitors to the Alleghany Highlands. The community will come together to support and encourage educational and cultural programming initiated by and for the community.
